Job Description
The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will be responsible for overseeing SELF’s investment strategies, capital development, and portfolio management. The CIO will lead efforts to design, deploy, and manage financial offerings that address market barriers and promote economic resilience in underserved communities. This role requires expertise in financial modeling, risk analysis, stakeholder engagement, and product development. The CIO will play a critical role in scaling SELF’s impact and fostering private-public partnerships aligned with SELF’s mission.

Key Responsibilities
Product Development and Capital Strategy:
Product Development and Capital Strategy:
- Lead the development of financial products that fill market gaps and drive clean energy adoption in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
- Design and implement strategies to secure capital funding from public and private sources.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to align capital offerings with SELF’s mission and community needs.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships:
- Cultivate relationships with financial institutions, community partners, and investors.
- Represent SELF at public events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings to build awareness and strengthen partnerships.
Risk Management and Financial Oversight:
- Conduct financial modeling and risk analysis for potential investments and loan products.
- Establish performance metrics and methodologies for assessing program impact and financial sustainability.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular updates to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Leadership and Management:
- Oversee a team responsible for underwriting, investments, and compliance.
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Lead the development and execution of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for new project investments aligned with SELF’s mission.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF).
- Develop and submit timely reports on program performance, activities, and outcomes to internal leadership and external stakeholders.

- Advanced degree in finance, economics, environmental science, or a related field (MBA or dual degree in related disciplines preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial services, business development, or community finance, with a focus on clean energy or impact investing.
- Demonstrated ability to secure capital funding and manage public-private partnerships.
- Proven track record of designing financial products and managing large-scale investment portfolios.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in financial modeling and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in project management and stakeholder engagement.
Employment Details
- Location: Hybrid with some in-office work in Fort Pierce, Florida.
- Travel: Up to 25% travel for meetings, events, and stakeholder engagements.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and communicate effectively via phone, email, and video calls.
Compensation
- $160,000 - $185,000
